Tutorial Tuesday :: Boat Club Dress and Swim Coverup by Sew Caroline

Independence Day is just a few days away and what better way to celebrate than whipping up the perfect summer dress and swim coverup?  The super talented Caroline Hulse of Sew Caroline not only provided this great tutorial, but also a FREE sewing pattern for it.  This tutorial is easy to follow with clear instructions and several simple illustrations. You'll be ready for beach and poolside lounging in no time!
Always a good tip to remember before printing the pattern pieces is to make sure to print the test square page. Some printers automatically scale documents and you do not want that with printing a pattern.
In Caroline's pattern she illustrates how a strip of binding is attached around the neckline. This technique you can add to almost any pattern neckline, and even armholes, to get a professional finished look so it is a good one to master!
How lovely is Caroline??

A cotton jersey or cotton spandex would work perfectly for this summer dress!  A few of my picks from the store:
We hope you enjoy this tutorial and please send 1-2 images of any project you make with Girl Charlee Fabrics to gcblog@girlcharlee.com and you might see your creation featured in our next KnitPicks!

Happy sewing!
