Tutorial Tuesday :: Modern T-Shirt Quilt from Sew Mama Sew

We LOVE seeing people use knit fabrics in creative ways, so we were thrilled to find this Modern T-Shirt Quilt Tutorial from Jenelle Montilone of TrashN2Tees for Sew Mama Sew blog. Using old t-shirts, fabrics from your stash, or an assortment of Half Yards, you too can create a beautiful quilt like this! Click here for the tutorial and happy sewing!

To get started, you will need 12.5″ x 12.5″ squares in an assortment of colors and prints, and then each of these squares will be cut diagonally into two triangles. Jenelle mentions several tips and tricks for quilting with knits throughout her tutorial that are sure to benefit sewists of all experience levels.

As each piece only needs to be 12.5″ x 12.5″, this is the perfect opportunity to shop from our wide range of Precut Half Yards. Most knit fabrics like Cotton Jersey and Cotton Lycra will work well for your quilt, as they will stabilized with interfacing. A few of my picks from the store:
We hope you enjoy this tutorial! We love to see what you sew up so please send 1-2 images* of any project you make with Girl Charlee Fabrics to gcblog@girlcharlee.com and you might see your creation featured in our next Knit Picks!
