Tutorial Tuesday :: DIY Leggings Pocket from The Petite Sewist

Women's pants rarely include pockets, let alone pockets large enough for your cell phone, so I was incredibly excited to find this DIY Leggings Pocket Tutorial from Stephanie of The Petite Sewist! This two-part tutorial takes you every step of the way from editing an existing leggings pattern to proper assembly of your new leggings. Click here for the entire tutorial and happy sewing!

For this project you'll need a copy of your favorite leggings sewing pattern with separate left leg, right leg, and waistband pieces. Below are a few of our favorites from the shop, and you can find all of our women's pants and leggings indie sewing patterns here!

Stephanie provides clear, concise instructions for drafting the edits to your original pattern with simple illustrations, like the example below.
For your new leggings, you will need a knit fabric with a good amount of four way stretch like Cotton Lycra, Brushed Poly Spandex, and Lycra Spandex. A few of my picks from the store:
We hope you enjoy this tutorial! We love to see what you sew up so please send 1-2 images* of any project you make with Girl Charlee Fabrics to gcblog@girlcharlee.com and you might see your creation featured in our next Knit Picks!
*Please note that all images submitted are subject for Girl Charlee promotional use.

Happy Sewing!
