June Customer Spotlight :: Sue Bradbury of Ellaina Boutique

Our June Customer Spotlight features Sue Bradbury of Ellaina Boutique, a beautiful handmade women's clothing and accessories line. What started as a personal need for more mom-friendly clothing that was comfortable, stretchy, and machine washable, has turned into a successful business with many sales and excellent customer reviews. Below is more about Sue and her growing company. Enjoy!

About Sue ::
I grew up in a small town in North Dakota and was always encouraged to be creative. My mother taught me to sew when I was very young and I can remember helping her pick out little scraps to sew into fashionable doll clothes. I have always loved colors, patterns, and textures, so I naturally gravitated toward craft and design. I also really enjoy making things with my hands and the ability to sketch, draft, cut and sew up a design in a matter of hours.

My high school sweetheart and I (now married) opened up a clothing boutique in San Diego, CA called Ellaina Boutique (after a childhood nickname). Together we have a lot of adventures, as we are both free spirits.

Although I began my business in 2002, it didn’t really take off until after the birth of my first son in 2008, when I realized my need for more mom friendly clothing and accessories. I basically started designing for my personal needs, which has led me to focus on comfort, stretchiness, pockets, and the need to machine wash. That’s why I started working exclusively with knits and why I love Girl Charlee for having such a great selection of prints and solids to choose from!

My little family has now settled in the suburbs of Dayton, Ohio. I have the pleasure of working from home in my small one room studio, while also being able to spend quality time with my husband and my two sons. I design and draft all of my own patterns, do all the cutting, sewing, packaging, and shipping myself. I truly love what I do and am so happy to be sharing my designs with you :)
