Tutorial Tuesday :: "It's Sew Easy" Bandage Knit Skirt with Family Ever After

With the wild popularity of last year's Bandage Knit Skirt Tutorial from Rach H. of Family Ever After, Rach was invited to guest on the PBS show It's Sew Easy and show us all how to create the skirt.  Rach contacted Girl Charlee Fabrics and we supplied all of the fabrics she used on the show!  This skirt is both easy to make and comfortable wear.  With skirt season just around the corner it is the perfect time to sew one of these up!
You can see that Rach cuts out the panels (or bandages) pretty arbitrarily, as they should range in size.  When cutting into the fabric, she intentionally lines up the bottom of each bandage with the line of a stripe. This will create a nice, clean look to your finished skirt.
A brilliant hemming tip Rach suggests is cutting a 1" template out of card stock and using that when pressing the fabric into place.  Being as I am such a lazy sewer when it comes to pressing I am very excited to try this tip out!
Stripes from Girl Charlee Fabrics are perfect for this skirt. A few of my picks from the store:
We hope you enjoy this tutorial! We love to see what you sew up so please send 1-2 images of any project you make with Girl Charlee Fabrics to gcblog@girlcharlee.com and you might see your creation featured in our next KnitPicks!

Happy sewing!
