Tutorial Tuesday :: Comfy Pants Tutorials by Pretty Prudent and iCandy Handmade

With the holidays around the corner it is the best time of year for the whole family to snuggle up in comfy, cozy lounge pants.  For this Tutorial Tuesday we found two different tutorials to make pants for children and also for adults.  Use these easy tutorials and some knit fabrics to sew up matching pants for yourself and family, as well as gifts for visiting relatives and friends over the holidays!

Jamie of Pretty Prudent has this easy tutorial for babies and toddlers How To Make Pants.   I love this tutorial as it uses a pair of pants you already like for your baby or toddler as the pattern.
Jamie also describes how to add grommets to the pants if you would like to use a drawstring instead of elastic to keep them up.  She creates this cute flat front pair with a decorative tie in her example.
For the adults we found this tutorial by Autie from iCandy Handmade.  It comes with a free pattern (our favorite!!) to make a Comfy Knit Lounge Pants.  I like how Autie uses a single seam pattern, so easy!
Autie also explains how to make a yoga band by creating a tube with your fabric at the top of the pants.
A Cotton Jersey Knit Fabric would work well for these patterns for the whole family! A few of my picks from the store:
If you want to make some matching holiday pants for you and the family shop our Holiday Fabrics for our selection of season perfect prints!

We hope you enjoy this tutorial and please send 1-2 images of any project you make with Girl Charlee Fabrics to gcblog@girlcharlee.com and you might see your creation featured in our next KnitPicks!

Happy sewing!
