Tutorial Tuesday :: Sewing Grown up Leggings by Melissa Esplin

Leggings, leggings everywhere but how is best to make??  I am seeing the most amazing leggings all over the place and with it being boot and drapey sweater season I am motivated to try and make my own with some of the cool pattern and solid knits we have in the store.  I found it hard to find a tutorial  that had everything I am looking for but I eventually came across this tutorial Sewing: Grown Up Leggings from Melissa Esplin and was super inspired but not only all the resources she has included in the tutorial, but also by her sophisticated and sweet styling of her own pin stripe leggings.  Just perfect!!

If using your own workout pants patterns or leggings check out Melissa's handy trick to add seam allowance by taping together some pencils:

Oh so many wonderful fabrics work for leggings but here are a few of my picks from the shop:

We hope you enjoy this tutorial and sew up a wardrobe of leggings!  Please send 1-2 images of any project you make with Girl Charlee Fabrics to gcblog@girlcharlee.com and you might see your creation featured in our next KnitPicks!

Happy sewing!
