Tutorial Tuesday :: Quick Ruching Tutorial from ItsAlwaysAutumn.com

For this Tutorial Tuesday I wanted to share a very easy Quick Ruching Tutorial by Autumn Baldwin of itsalwaysautumn.com.  Knowing how to quickly add these kinds of details to most any pattern can take something normal and turn it into something FANCY with minimal effort.  I have used ruching on everything from kids dresses and tops to bathing suits and work out pants.  Ruching and knits really go hand in hand.  The inherent drape and stretch in the knit fabric allows you to add these details without altering the ease needed in the pattern for a good fit or use a ruching detail to achieve a better fit!

For ruching use a stripe, solid, or print jersey knit or spandex blend to achieve a unique effect.   A selection of some of our knits from the store that would work well using this technique:

We hope you find this technique useful and please send 1-2 images of any project you make with Girl Charlee Fabrics to gcblog@girlcharlee.com and you might see your creation featured in our next KnitPicks!

Happy sewing!
