Tutorial Tuesday :: How to Turn any Tee Pattern into a V-neck from Design Diary

T-shirts are a basic essential in every handmade wardrobe, and adding a V-neckline is an incredibly flattering touch. Not all shirt sewing patterns include instructions for this style, though, so I was thrilled to find this How to Turn any Tee Pattern into a V-neck Tutorial from Heather of Design Diary, the blog behind Megan Nielsen Patterns. With just a couple of minor adjustments, you can add a V-neck to any top. Click here for the entire tutorial and happy sewing!

The majority of the shirt can be sewn as instructed in your pattern. Heather takes you step-by-step through all adjustments from redrawing the front piece to sewing the neckline a little differently. Be sure to press well when you're finished to remove any wavy seams.

If you're looking for pattern inspiration, our entire collection of indie sewing patterns can be found here. T-shirts can be sewn in stretchy knit fabrics including Cotton Jersey and Cotton Lycra. A few of my picks from the store:
We hope you enjoy this tutorial! We love to see what you sew up so please send 1-2 images* of any project you make with Girl Charlee Fabrics to gcblog@girlcharlee.com and you might see your creation featured in our next Knit Picks!

Happy Sewing!
