Knitty News :: Summer Selfie Sewing with Pattern Revolution

Girl Charlee & the Pattern Revolution Team joined to sponsor their latest blog series- Summer Selfie Sewing. Each day last week, two designers were challenged to sew up a garment or outfit specifically for themselves, and the results were amazing! See all of the incredible women's projects below, along with links to all fabrics used, and click each image to read more from the designer. Enjoy!

In the first post of the series, Rebecca of First Steps Boutique shared her gorgeous Boho Breeze Romper from Winter Wear Designs made in our Dark Fuchsia Pink Solid Cotton Spandex Knit Fabric! As Rebecca points out, this fun pink romper is both functional and stylish.

Weatherly of Love and Lilies Designs wanted to sew a handmade outfit that would make her feel confident, beautiful, and sexy, so she used two patterns from George and Ginger Co.'s Confidence Collection - the Road Trip Bodysuit and Heat Wave Hot Pants. For her bodysuit, Weatherly used our BOLT Pure Vintage Lotus Floral Cotton Spandex Knit Fabric, and for her shorts, she used our Navy Blue Stretch Faux Vegan Leather Fabric.

Day 2 featured Tasha of Sewn at Seams in her stunning halter dress pattern hack from Patterns for Pirates Take the Plunge Swimsuit using our Sparkle Swirls on Plaid Brushed Jersey Spandex Blend Knit Fabric. This pattern hack is a clear winner because this maxi dress is absolutely beautiful!

Brooke of Idle Sunshine decided to make a seasonless cardigan that she can wear all year, so she sewed the Jalie Helene Cardigan in our Black Gray Gold Vertical Navajo Stripe Hacci Sweater Knit Fabric. Brooke's stripe matching is perfection, and in her post she even includes some tips on how to best match stripes for your next project.

Heidi of Lilly Belle Handmade wanted to make her own romper because she finds store-bought rompers do not fit her well. She sewed up the Mama Lea Romper from Made for Mermaids in one of our BOLT by Girl Charlee Cotton Spandex Knit Fabrics. This floral print is currently out of stock, but we do have many other beautiful BOLT fabrics here!

Maryanna of Marvelous Auntie M sewed the Greenstyle Open Back Top using our Black Charcoal Broken Chevron Feathers Ponte de Roma Knit Fabric to make this trendy pullover sweater. As shown here, you can wear a fun strappy sports bra or swimsuit underneath your pullover to show in the back opening.

Jessica of Snickerdoodle Stew made the Mama Vivienne Dress from Made for Mermaids in our Teal Magenta Vertical Floral Stripe Cotton Spandex Knit Fabric. For an interesting element, she used self fabric on the contrast sides and flipped the fabric horizontally.

For her outfit, Laura couldn't wait to combine two Greenstyle Creations sewing patterns - the Amy Skirt and the Green Tee. Laura's skirt features our Red Rose Lattice Cotton Jersey Blend Knit Fabric and her top is made with our Taupe Drawn Ethnic Elephants on White Cotton Jersey Blend Knit Fabric.

On the last day of the series, Rebekah of Rebekah Sews made this lovely Cold Shoulder Tunic from Ellie and Mac with our Orange Mustard Navajo Ethnic Single Spandex Knit Fabric. As shown here, single spandex fabric drapes beautifully when sewn into a flowy garment.

Chris wanted to sew a two piece outfit so she made the Racerback Jalie 3245 with our BOLT by Girl Charlee Cotton Spandex Knit Fabric and a pair of Patterns for Pirates Palazzos Shorts with our White Solid French Terry Twill Spandex Knit Fabric.

Happy sewing!
