Tutorial Tuesday :: DIY Twist Back Top from Gina Michele

Color blocked garments and accessories add such a fun POP to your wardrobe, and this DIY Twist Back Top Tutorial from Gina Michele makes color blocking easier than ever before! This beginner-friendly project requires two coordinating fabrics for front/back and only a couple of simple seams to sew. Gina used two half yards of knit fabric to create her top, so be sure to shop our completely selection of precut Half Yards here! Happy Sewing!

With no purchased pattern required, Gina demonstrates how to trace an existing tee or tank from your wardrobe to create your own custom pattern. When designing her pattern she added a few extra inches on the side and bottom to give the new top more drape.

This tee can be sewn in light-mid weight knit fabrics like Cotton Jersey and Cotton Lycra. For a unique look every time, try mixing and matching different prints and designs for the front and back pieces. A few of my picks from the store:
We hope you enjoy this tutorial! We love to see what you sew up so please send 1-2 images of any project you make with Girl Charlee Fabrics to gcblog@girlcharlee.com and you might see your creation featured in our next Knit Picks!

Happy Sewing!
