Tutorial Tuesday :: Fit & Flare Dress from Sew Mama Sew

One of the most amazing things about sewing your own wardrobe is that you can create garments that fit your body perfectly. This Fit & Flare Dress Tutorial from Claire of Hoopes Park Studios written for Sew Mama Sew blog takes you step by step to show you how to take your body measurements and draft your custom sewing pattern to create this gorgeous me-made knit dress. With the addition of pockets, you won't even need to grab a purse when you head out! Happy Sewing!

By attaching elastic to the waist, you will be able to pull your dress on and off with ease. Don't forget to sew with a zig zag or other stretch stitch, and to pull the elastic slightly as you sew.

For your new dress, Claire suggests using a medium weight knit with at least 25% stretch, including Cotton Lycra, Ponte de Roma, and Brushed Poly Spandex. A few of my picks from the store:
We hope you enjoy this tutorial! We love to see what you sew up so please send 1-2 images of any project you make with Girl Charlee Fabrics to gcblog@girlcharlee.com and you might see your creation featured in our next Knit Picks!

Happy Sewing!
