Tutorial Tuesday :: Sewing Knit Ribbing from MADE Everyday

One common question we receive from customers is how to sew Cotton Ribbed Knits, and I just stumbled upon this informative video tutorial on Sewing Knit Ribbing from Dana Willard of MADE Everyday! Cotton Ribbing is a soft, stretchy knit fabric that sews up to make beautiful garments, and is also often used for neck bands, arm bands, and waist bands. In her tutorial, Dana demonstrates how properly to cut and sew the perfect neck and arm bands for just about any project! Happy Sewing!

As Dana mentions in her video, the ribbed knit cuffs will be a little smaller than the shirt pieces. It is important to stretch the ribbing while you sew without also stretching the shirt. Pinning the two fabrics in place will help keep both fabrics aligned.

At Girl Charlee we carry are many different types (1x1 Cotton Baby Rib, 4x2 Cotton Rib, etc) and colors of Cotton Ribbed Knit Fabrics. A few of my picks from the store:
If you're looking for coordinating fabrics in smaller quantities, we currently have limited half yard ribbing bundles! Each consists of 5 precut half yards and are sold for a discounted price:
We hope you enjoy this tutorial! We love to see what you sew up so please send 1-2 images of any project you make with Girl Charlee Fabrics to gcblog@girlcharlee.com and you might see your creation featured in our next Knit Picks!

Happy Sewing!
