Tutorial Tuesday :: Peplum Pencil Skirt from The Littlest Studio

In celebration of Valentine's Day, I wanted this week's tutorial to be extra fun and flirty, and this Pencil Skirt with Peplum Hem Tutorial from Melanie of The Littlest Studio is just perfect! With Melanie's help you can transform a basic pencil skirt into a one-of-a-kind feminine wardrobe staple. Wear your new skirt to any occasion because this flattering silhouette is equally perfect for work wear as it is for date night and girl's night out. Enjoy & Happy Valentine's Day!

To get started, you'll need a simple pencil skirt pattern to base your project off of. You can trace an existing skirt that you have, or you can purchase a new pattern from our collection of indie sewing patterns. A few of my picks from the store:

Cutting the extra peplum fabric piece is very easy to do with Melanie's FREE Circle Skirt Template. Once you determine which size to use, measure 6" away from the template and mark around the fabric for even cutting.

For this pencil skirt, you'll want to use a medium weight knit with a good amount of stretch such as Ponte de RomaCotton Lycra, or Brushed Poly Spandex. A few of my picks from the store:
We hope you enjoy this tutorial! We love to see what you sew up so please send 1-2 images of any project you make with Girl Charlee Fabrics to gcblog@girlcharlee.com and you might see your creation featured in our next Knit Picks!

Happy Sewing!
