Tutorial Tuesday :: How to Sew Baby Booties from Handmade in the Heartland

Keeping your babies feet warm and cozy, while still being stylish, just got easier than ever before! Angela of Handmade in the Heartland offers readers this amazing tutorial on How to Sew Baby Booties with FREE Sewing Pattern. Since you only need a 1/4 yard of interior fabric and a 1/4 yard of exterior fabric, this is the perfect project to use up those small scrap pieces, or you can shop 1/4 Yard Mystery Boxes for a mix of different knit fabric types and prints. Enjoy!

Since they are so soft, Angela describes them as in between a sock and a shoe. They also feature elastic on the ankle for easy wear so they don't fall off. Angela's instructions for sewing the elastic are perfect for helping beginners learn how to evenly distribute the stretch while sewing.

Order your very own Mystery Mix 1/4 Yard Bargain Lot for a wide assortment of different fabrics or shop Half Yards to pick and choose your interior and exterior fabrics for these adorable booties. You'll want to use soft knits like Cotton Jersey or Cotton Lycra. A few of my picks from the store:
We hope you enjoy this tutorial! We love to see what you sew up so please send 1-2 images of any project you make with Girl Charlee Fabrics to gcblog@girlcharlee.com and you might see your creation featured in our next Knit Picks!

Happy Sewing!
