Tutorial Tuesday :: The Perfect Slouchy Tunic from Merrick's Art

For this week's Tutorial Tuesday, we have this Perfect Slouchy Tunic Tutorial from Merrick White of Merrick's Art. What I love most about this tunic is that it can easily be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. Pair it with jeans during the day and vegan leather leggings for a night on the town! Match Merrick's look and sew yours up in a basic stripe or solid knit from Girl Charlee Fabrics, or be bold and sew yours in a fun statement print like a floral, ethnic, and more! This tutorial is so easy that you will want to sew it again and again in different colors and prints. Enjoy!

Merrick's blog is full of many incredible DIY sewing tutorials, and they each include clear illustrations that pair with the written instructions, making them especially easy to follow. In this slouchy tunic tutorial, she also links to this helpful video tutorial from her and Leanne Barlow of Modern Girl Sewing that shows readers how easy it is to make your own perfectly fitted patterns using garments that you already own.

To create a tunic that drapes similarly to Merrick's, try using a light to medium weight knit like a cotton jersey or cotton lycra blend. A few of my picks from the store:
We hope you enjoy this tutorial! We love to see what you sew up so please send 1-2 images of any project you make with Girl Charlee Fabrics to gcblog@girlcharlee.com and you might see your creation featured in our next Knit Picks!

Happy Sewing!
