Tutorial Tuesday :: DIY Cocoon Dress from Sew in Love

One of my favorite things about Fall is that I get to transition my everyday wardrobe to be full of comfy cooler weather garments. This DIY Cocoon Dress from Rin of Sew in Love is guaranteed to feel great while still looking chic! Your new cocoon dress is perfect to layer under a jean jacket or with some fun leggings. Happy Sewing!

To make your very own cocoon dress, follow along with Studio Faro's Pattern Puzzle to put together your perfect pattern. Using a fitted dress or basic dress pattern as the base, the instructions are very easy to follow. Try sewing yours up with a crewneck or V-neck like Rin's! Hers ended up  little lower than expected, so she just twisted the neckline where she wanted it and sewed it in place for an added detail.

For the perfect amount of drape on your cocoon dress, use a light knit blend such as a jersey rayon blend or a rayon spandex blend. A few of my picks from the store:
We hope you enjoy this tutorial! We love to see what you sew up so please send 1-2 images of any project you make with Girl Charlee Fabrics to gcblog@girlcharlee.com and you might see your creation featured in our next KnitPicks!

Happy Sewing!
