Tutorial Tuesday :: Sports Bra Tutorial with FREE Sewing Pattern from The Sewing Rabbit

Sports bras can be incredibly expensive to buy in stores, but did you know that they are also very easy to sew? Jessica Abbott of The Sewing Rabbit provides this amazing Sports Bra Tutorial with FREE Sewing Pattern to get you workout ready in style. This sports bra is so easy to make that you will start to wonder why you ever bought one in the past! In addition, Jessica also shows you how to turn this Sports Bra Pattern into an adorable Peplum Tankini Top. Happy Sewing!

Jessica's instructions are easy to follow and includes excellent visuals that pair with written instruction. Since there is both an exterior fabric and a lining fabric, the color-coding helps prevent any confusion and makes for a simple project to follow along with!

For a comfortable fitting sports bra, use a fabric with 4 way stretch like lycra spandex or cotton lycra.  A few of my picks from the store:

You will also need a medium or heavyweight knit fabric for the lining, such as an interlock or ponte ::
We hope you enjoy this tutorial! We love to see what you sew up so please send 1-2 images of any project you make with Girl Charlee Fabrics to gcblog@girlcharlee.com and you might see your creation featured in our next KnitPicks!

Happy Sewing!

  1. Wow!! I have never thought of sewing a bra. Thanks for sharing this awesome post. I purchased few workout leggings from an online store and finding them very satisfying. Happy to carry them while doing cardio. Now planning to buy fashionable Sports Bra that is on best price.
