Our May Customer Spotlight is about Gale Watkins of The Canine's Closet, a shop filled with fabulous finds for your canine counterparts. Knits are perfect for everyone in you life, so it is no surprise that Gale makes the most adorable hand-sewn dog pajamas using knit fabric from Girl Charlee! Inspired after adopting her first Chinese Crested dog, Gale set out to sew up these dog pajamas as part of a fundraising task and it didn't take long before The Canine's Closest got its start. Here is more about Gale and her company.

About Gale ::
My name is Gale Watkins, and I'm the owner of The Canine's Closet, an Etsy shop that sells made-to-order hand-sewn dog pajamas. I live in Wilmington, NC with three furry "children", Darby, Cash and Shelly. I have a BA from Western Carolina University and an EMBA from George Mason University.

The Canine's Closet evolved from my love of dogs. In 2011, I adopted the first, of eventually three, Chinese Crested dogs, from a wonderful and dedicated small dog rescue group, baldisbeautifuldogrescue.org. I began volunteering and helping with fund raising for the rescue by sewing dog pajamas that would be sold in the rescue's on-line shop. I found making the pajamas so enjoyable that before I knew it, The Canine's Closet became a reality in early 2015.

The Canine's Closet features Girl Charlee's cotton blend knits or jersey knit fabrics. Customers love the stylish and colorful fabrics! The pajamas have enough stretchiness to make them very easy to put on and take off (no snaps, buttons or velcro to deal with!). The underside of the pajamas are open and so they don't need to be removed for a dog's "outside needs". The pajamas are sewn using a four-thread overlock stitch, making the seams strong and durable.
