Our April Customer Spotlight is about Carmen West of
Little & Lively, an adorable children's clothing line run by Carmen and her husband. As someone who has always been passionate about design, it is no wonder that Carmen is finding much joy and success with Little & Lively. Carmen loves being able to use her creativity when it comes to her job, but the part she loves the most, is getting to spend time at home with her two kids. Here is more about Carmen and her company.
About Carmen ::
My name is Carmen West and I'm the owner/designer of Little & Lively, an apparel company located in Abbotsford, BC. I make ridiculously cute handmade clothing for littles! I'm passionate about making pieces that are versatile and on-trend. I strive to keep business operations close to home to maintain a balance between motherhood and managing a business. I run this business with the help of my savvy husband who keeps me organized and the bookkeeping on track, thank goodness!
We have two daughters of our own, Daphne & Wynnie and they are the light of our life! I can honestly say I'm living my dream by being able to operate a creative business from home while being a mother at the same time! The multi-tasking can be tough at times but I wouldn't trade this arrangement in a million years! I really value the flexibility of being able to start and stop working around the needs of my kids and having an active/present role in their day to day lives!
I went to school at UFV right out of high school and earned a diploma in Fashion Design many years ago (nine to be exact). I initially pictured a future designing women's fashion but I didn't find my 'niche' right away. Finally, a little over 2.5 years ago when I was expecting my firstborn, I was suddenly extremely motivated to make baby clothes, a market that had never really interested me before! I launched a micro project called 'Carmen West Creative Littles' with a few baby clothing designs that immediately took off! A year later, I rebranded as Little & Lively and pretty much dropped all my other design projects to focus on the new company which was growing quickly.
This is now my third season under Little & Lively and I'm loving what I do! My favourite part about this business is being able to create beautiful things while I raise my beautiful daughters! I have always been passionate about design so it is incredible that I'm able to apply my creative abilities to my job.
