Tutorial Tuesday :: How to Sew a Men’s T-shirt from Thread Theory

Girl Charlee Fabrics is continuing to celebrate sewing for the men and boys in your life with our incredible giveaway going on now and for this weeks Tutorial Tuesday, we have How to Sew a Men’s T-shirt from Thread Theory Designs. This informative tutorial takes you every step of the way of sewing up the perfect tee from choosing your stitch style to hemming. To sew your new shirt you can use Thread Theory Designs Strathcona Henley Sewing Pattern or any basic tee sewing pattern. Enjoy!

When stitching the binding to the neckline, be sure to use a stitch that stretches. Also, once your neckline is in place you can add an extra line of stitching, either a zig zag stitch or a twin needle, for that added professional touch!

Suggested fabrics for the Strathcona Henley are light to medium weight knits such as cotton jersey and cotton lycra. For a warmer garment, try sewing your Henley in ponte de roma or french terry knits. A few of my picks from the store:

We hope you enjoy this tutorial! We love to see what you sew up so please send 1-2 images of any project you make with Girl Charlee Fabrics to gcblog@girlcharlee.com and you might see your creation featured in our next KnitPicks!

Happy Sewing!
