Tutorial Tuesday :: Bow Headband from Sew Not Perfect

Looking for the perfect accessory for you and your little one to wear year-round? For this weeks Tutorial Tuesday we have an adorable Bow Headband Tutorial from Bethany of Sew Not Perfect. With measurements provided in sizes for newborn to adult, this tutorial is perfect for sewing for the entire family! Bethany even includes instructions on making your bow small, medium, or large sized. Enjoy!

To give your bow more structure and stability, Bethany recommends adding lightweight interfacing. As she describes it, "This really makes the difference in the bow having body and not being limp!" Additionally, there are a few different ways to shape your bow, but Bethany uses a simple gathering technique to ensure that it will hold properly.

For your headband, you'll want to use a knit fabric with a good amount of stretch, like with Cotton Jersey and Cotton Lycra. A few of my picks from the store:

Since each headband requires a very small amount of fabric, we also offer our Half Yard Cuts and our Mystery Mix 1/4 Yard Bargain Lots. This way you can practice sewing your headbands in various knit materials on a smaller scale.

We hope you enjoy this tutorial! We love to see what you sew up so please send 1-2 images of any project you make with Girl Charlee Fabrics to gcblog@girlcharlee.com and you might see your creation featured in our next KnitPicks!

Happy sewing!
