Tutorial Tuesday :: Fun Women's Tee by iCandy Handmade

I love sewing color blocked garments because they give an opportunity to mix different prints and solids in unique and unexpected ways. This Fun Women's Tee Tutorial from Jen of iCandy Handmade is the perfect project to introduce yourself to color blocking! With this tee, you'll need two contrasting fabrics, one for the front and one for the back, and you'll be able to see the contrast from the front because the shoulder seam is dropped down a few inches.

Another fun detail on this shirt is the side split, where the front of the shirt is slightly higher than the back. It's the little details like this that make handmade garments one of a kind.

As an added bonus, Jen provides her FREE Sewing Pattern in a women's size Medium! If you do not wear a size medium, she also offers simple instructions on how to resize accordingly.

Cotton jersey and cotton spandex knits would be perfect for recreating this tee, as they are light to mid-weight and often have excellent drape. A few of my picks from the store:
We hope you enjoy this tutorial! We love to see what you sew up so please send 1-2 images of any project you make with Girl Charlee Fabrics to gcblog@girlcharlee.com and you might see your creation featured in our next Knit Picks!

Happy sewing!
