Tutorial Tuesday :: Chiffon Maxi Skirt Sewing Tutorial from Melissa Esplin

As the weather has been warming up, I've been on the hunt for the perfect lightweight skirt that I can wear day and night. On her blog, Melissa Esplin shared this lovely Chiffon Maxi Skirt Sewing Tutorial that is exactly what I need in my Spring/Summer wardrobe! Because chiffon fabric is often sheer, Melissa uses two layers of fabric, one that is floor length and one that is knee length. If you wanted, you could make both layers full length, but I prefer this staggered length option.

This tutorial is so easy to follow with these helpful, beautiful illustrations that take you every step of the way! Below is a very informative graphic about constructing your own pattern. Melissa suggests using a curved ruler to make the round shape of the skirt.
Girl Charlee New Arrivals have been filling up with new Specialty Woven Fabrics over the last few weeks. These flowy, lightweight fabrics are perfect for recreating this maxi skirt! A few of my picks from the store:
We hope you enjoy this tutorial! We love to see what you sew up so please send 1-2 images of any project you make with Girl Charlee Fabrics to gcblog@girlcharlee.com and you might see your creation featured in our next KnitPicks!

Happy sewing!
