Tutorial Tuesday :: Make it Yourself with Girl Charlee Fabrics

Does anyone else get super inspired to sew when buying retail like I do?  As a sewist when I see something in a store that I like I immediately think, 'Can I make that for less?'.  For this weeks tutorial Tuesday Tuesday we found a couple of super cute store made items that are fun and super easy to make at home yourself!  Get some fabrics, follow the tutorials, and you will be sporting your own made-by-me version in no time.

This dress, available now on Modcloth, retails for $49.99. Kate of Schwurlie has put together this awesome tutorial for how to make a wrap dress just like it with 3 yards of fabric. This is a great opportunity to try your sewing skills with a specialty woven fabric. A few of my picks from the store:

Merrick, of Merrick's Art, created this sewing super popular and easy swing dress tutorial this past spring and then worked with Golden Tote to create a retail version of the same dress for a cost of $78.  The tutorial calls for 2 yards of fabric and is a snap to follow.  In her tutorial, Merrick uses one of our cotton spandex fabrics with beautiful results.  A few of my picks from the store:

We hope you enjoy this tutorial and please send 1-2 images of any project you make with Girl Charlee Fabrics to gcblog@girlcharlee.com and you might see your creation featured in our next KnitPicks!

Happy sewing!
