Tutorial Tuesday :: The Perfect Summer Swing Dress by Merricks Art

With this beautiful spring weather finally in full effect across the USA I am in the mood for a new warm weather dress.  In my hunt, I stumbled across Merrick Art's beautiful Summer Swing Dress Tutorial.  Merrick White produced the most amazing blog and all her posts are so beautifully done.  This tutorial is very well illustrated and well, she just rocks this dress! Here is a dress that should be in all of our closets in the next week or two. I can hardly wait!
Merrick's illustrations match perfectly with her step-by-step instructions and she makes her tutorials as simple as possible! One important tip that Merrick offers is that she suggests using parchment paper to cut the pattern pieces instead of going straight to the fabric. Pinning pattern pieces of parchment paper down to the fabric will eliminate a lot of potential errors when cutting the fabric and it is really easy to cut around.
A soft, stretchy knit like cotton spandex that Merrick used is perfect for this dress and will work in either prints or solids.  A few of my picks from the store:
We hope you enjoy this tutorial and please send 1-2 images of any project you make with Girl Charlee Fabrics to gcblog@girlcharlee.com and you might see your creation featured in our next KnitPicks!

Happy sewing!
