Girl Charlee Fabrics :: NEW Sewing Patterns from Snapdragon Studios

We are excited to announce the addition of Snapdragon Studios to our collection of indie sewing patterns in the shop! These beautiful women's patterns are designed with flattering silhouettes that feature both comfortable fits and elegant details. Below is more about Snapdragon Studios, along with a few of our favorite new patterns each paired with coordinating fabrics from the shop. Enjoy!

Snapdragon Studios
Snapdragon Studios patterns are designed with every body shape and every sewing level in mind, from beginner to expert. Owner and designer Kim creates clothing and accessory patterns that are easy to make and easy to wear. Comfortable, stylish designs that fit your life.

With its nipped-in empire waist and a breezy flowing skirt that falls smoothly over the hips, the Summer Jazz Dress drapes beautifully and flatters every figure. Made as a top, a dress or a maxi, with optional inseam pockets to carry all your essentials, it's the perfect pattern for all the occasions in your life.

Try one of these fabrics:
Why the "Lemon Squeeze"? Because it's easy-peasy!! This flowing cardigan can be made easily in an afternoon, ready to slip on and wear that evening. Just a touch of shaping along with the long side hem make it feminine, and two sleeve options make it versatile. Wearable year round, it's a lovely compliment to any outfit.

Try one of these fabrics:

The Market Day Tunic skims the body with darts in front and back for an easy, flowing fit. The optional contrast facings can showcase a special fabric or vintage lace. Make several! You’ll look great from market to date night.

  Try one of these fabrics:
View and purchase these sewing patterns and more on girlcharlee.com! If you sew up any of these patterns with our fabrics please send us images as we would love to see it and you could be featured on our monthly Knit Picks. Email your pictures to gcblog@girlcharlee.com*.

Tutorial Tuesday :: DIY Twist Back Top from Gina Michele

Color blocked garments and accessories add such a fun POP to your wardrobe, and this DIY Twist Back Top Tutorial from Gina Michele makes color blocking easier than ever before! This beginner-friendly project requires two coordinating fabrics for front/back and only a couple of simple seams to sew. Gina used two half yards of knit fabric to create her top, so be sure to shop our completely selection of precut Half Yards here! Happy Sewing!

With no purchased pattern required, Gina demonstrates how to trace an existing tee or tank from your wardrobe to create your own custom pattern. When designing her pattern she added a few extra inches on the side and bottom to give the new top more drape.

This tee can be sewn in light-mid weight knit fabrics like Cotton Jersey and Cotton Lycra. For a unique look every time, try mixing and matching different prints and designs for the front and back pieces. A few of my picks from the store:
We hope you enjoy this tutorial! We love to see what you sew up so please send 1-2 images of any project you make with Girl Charlee Fabrics to gcblog@girlcharlee.com and you might see your creation featured in our next Knit Picks!

Happy Sewing!
