Girl Charlee Fabrics :: NEW Sewing Patterns from SoZo

We are excited to announce the addition of UK-based SoZo Patterns to our collection of indie sewing pattern designers! Included are three beautiful beginner-friendly sewing patterns in women and maternity sizes that offering flattering silhouettes for many shapes and sizes. Below is more about SoZo, along with all three new patterns each paired with our selection of coordinating knits from the shop. Enjoy!

'So, Zo... What Do You Know?' patterns are the creation of Zoe Edwards, an established blogger, creator of the popular 'Me Made May' challenge and sewing teacher for Tilly and The Buttons, MIY Workshop and The Village Haberdashery. Zoe has been sewing for 20 years, her passion is to inspire people via her clear instructions to make their own stylish, wearable clothing and develop their own handmade wardrobes.

So, Zo... What do you know? Cordelia Maternity Camisole Sewing Pattern ::
The Cordelia Maternity Camisole is a simple, strappy knit top that looks great made in prints as well as solid fabrics. It has been designed for wearing during the third-trimester, which is often a tricky time to dress for as most of your 'regular' clothes probably no longer fit. It has a bump-friendly gathered mid-section, comfortable stretch hem band, and an optional bust support panel. Wear your Cordelia camisole at pregnancy yoga, to sleep in, on its own in warmer months or as a useful layer in cooler parts of the year.

Try one of these fabrics:
With two sleeve options and three length options, you can make six style variations from one downloadable PDF pattern. The Dolores batwing pattern has a super-flattering silhouette suitable for all figure types, and is made in light to medium weight knit fabric.

Try one of these fabrics:
The Dolores Maternity Dress is a simple, easy to wear batwing style knit dress with two sleeve options that looks great made in prints as well as solid fabrics. Designed to be semi-loose around the bust area and gently hugging at the hips with a bump-friendly mid-section. A comfy, everyday garment to wear during the third trimester of pregnancy.

Tutorial Tuesday :: DIY Convertible Bodysuit from A Pair & A Spare

Summer is fast approaching and when I stumbled upon this versatile DIY Convertible Bodysuit Tutorial from Geneva of A Pair & A Spare, I knew it was perfect for the warmer months ahead! In addition to written instruction and step-by-step images, this incredibly easy tutorial includes a simple to follow video so you can use whichever fits your learning preferences. Happy Sewing!

To create her bodysuit, Geneva uses a pair of high waisted underwear. If you prefer sewing your own, here are 3 of my favorite high waisted panty patterns from indie lingerie sewing pattern designer Ohhh Lulu ::

As an added bonus, this one simple sew can be styled in many different ways for a unique look every time! In her video tutorial, Geneva demonstrates a few of her favorite wrapping techniques to create these three one-of-a-kind looks.

To recreate this bodysuit you will need a stretchy knit fabric like Cotton Lycra and Lycra Spandex. A few of my picks from the store:
We hope you enjoy this tutorial! We love to see what you sew up so please send 1-2 images of any project you make with Girl Charlee Fabrics to gcblog@girlcharlee.com and you might see your creation featured in our next Knit Picks!

Happy Sewing!
