Tutorial Tuesday :: Summer Shorties Tutorial with FREE Sewing Pattern from Nap Time Creations

The Summer heat is rolling in and that means it is the perfect time to sew up some adorable new shorts! On my hunt for the perfect shorts tutorial, I stumbled across this wonderful Summer Shorties Tutorial from Emily of Nap Time Creations, which includes a FREE sewing pattern that is incredibly easy to follow! All of the little ones in your life will want to wear these shorts everyday. In addition to pairing well with a basic tee or tank, these shorts are perfect to wear under dresses and skirts too! Happy Sewing!

Making these cute little shorties is a breeze! Emily suggests sewing in the elastic on the waistband first with a zig-zag stitch and then folding it and going back around using a double stitch. This way you get a good amount of stretch and a nice and polished look.

For a nice and comfy fit, cotton jersey and cotton lycra fabrics would be a great place to start. A few of my picks from the store:

We hope you enjoy this tutorial! We love to see what you sew up so please send 1-2 images of any project you make with Girl Charlee Fabrics to gcblog@girlcharlee.com and you might see your creation featured in our next KnitPicks!

Happy Sewing!
