It is time again for another Girl Charlee Fabrics KnitFix Sewing Contest! This month we are challenging each of our Fixers to {Embrace} Your KnitFix and sew up each of your included 6 fabrics for a chance to win one of three FREE September KnitFix. How it works:
- Purchase an August KnitFix from Girl Charlee Fabrics while quantities last.
- Sew up each of the 6 included fabrics from a KnitFix, no swapping or selling or substitution of different fabrics is allowed. The idea is to only use the original 6 fabrics included in your KnitFix. If you purchased more than one KnitFix, pick the bag you like the best and sew up those 6, no mixing and matching please!
- You can use any sewing pattern.
- By September 6th*, create a photo album with all 6 of your completed fabric creations on our KnitFix Facebook group and hashtag #embraceyourfix #girlcharlee. If you are not on Facebook, be sure to tag @girlcharlee and use the hashtags #embraceyourfix #girlcharlee so we can find you. Hello Fellow Fixers! I am really looking forward to sharing my experience with sewing up the 6 different fabrics I received in my August KnitFix for the {Embrace} Your Fix Sewing Contest! Nicole from our Marketing team was selected to pick a random KnitFix bag for me as she is not involved in the assembling of the bags and does not know which fabrics are in which bag. She selected this KnitFix for me and here I am embracing it (because I do love to hug fabric)!!
The Blue Ginger Doll Bonnie Knit Top Sewing Pattern & Blue Arrow Geo Brushed Cotton Spandex Knit
I have a lovely solid navy blue poplin twill fabric set aside to make the Blue Ginger Doll Peggy Skirt, so I was excited when I saw the Blue Arrow Geo Brushed Cotton Spandex Knit as it will coordinate perfectly. The Bonnie Knit Top is a vintage 60's style pattern with the hip length ribbing band on the bottom, so the retro pattern is perfect. I will be sewing up both patterns so you can see how they look together!
The Delia Creates Pleated Pencil Skirt Sewing Pattern & Black Ethnic Arrow Ponte De Roma Knit
This one was a no-brainer as Ponte De Roma screams pencil skirt! I have been excited to try the Delia Creates Pencil Skirt pattern as it has a kick pleat option which I thought would be really cute surprise feature in the back of the skirt. This pattern is made for woven fabrics, but Delia has a re-mix tutorial online that shows how you simplify it to make it in a knit fabric. You get to eliminate a lot of the more advanced sewing steps and the zipper, so it should be a quick sew!
The Greenstyle Ladies Lillie Racerback Tank Dress Sewing Pattern & Big Mod Coral Mustard Cotton Jersey Blend Knit
As I am in Southern California and we really do not get "seasons" this one stumped me at first as the color palette is very Fall. I decided to embrace our warm weather seasons by making a sleeveless maxi from the Greenstyle Ladies Lillie Racerback Tank Dress pattern. With some creative layout I was just able to eek out enough fabric from the two yard piece to cut the full length dress, and the optional bra shelf option!
Named Clothing Inari T-Shirt Dress and Cropped Tee Sewing Pattern + EYMM Carlie's Dolman Top & Tunic Sewing Pattern & Black White 1" Stripe Cotton Jersey Knit
As this fabric is really wide and such a great weight, I decided to whip up this cute Inari Cropped Tee for me and the Carlie's Dolman Top for Miss Charlee. I am looking forward to sewing these patterns and show Charlee that Mommy & Me matching is STILL awesome even when you are a pre-teen 11 year old going on 21 (insert evil laugh)!!
The Victory Patterns Nicola Dress Sewing Pattern & Technicolor Floral on Cream Jersey Rayon Spandex Knit
I really struggled with what to do with this fabric as I am not a floral kind of gal, but Nicole talked me into using it for the Victory Patterns Nicola Dress, and I am really glad she did. In cutting out this pattern I realized that the drape and texture of this fabric is really perfect for it, and I am excited to try out this new sleeve style that I have never sewn before. I cut the liner for the skirt using some of our solid satin lining nylon spandex as I felt that it will definitely enhance the drape and give it a more substantial bottom weight.
The See Kate Sew Dreamer Top Sewing Pattern & Aztec Bright Stripes Cotton Jersey Blend Knit
This fabric is just gorgeous, but the colors are not something that I would usually wear. I had the Dreamer Top pattern sitting on my cutting table from last month's contest, and in seeing all the great submissions for the July Sewing Contest I decided to use it! The pattern is really so easy to sew, and I think that the sleeve bands and the collar will allow for a lot of creativity with the patterns linear elements.

ReplyDeleteSo, it doesn't count if I make a raglan top with the August knitfix fabric as the sleeves and some other fabric as the body? My daughter likes the orange triangles, but doesn't want the entire shirt made out of it.

How do we know if we have it tagged correctly for the contest ? I have no idea about the hashtag or how to use it. Is it just a typed line we add to it ?
