Tutorial Tuesday :: How To Make Headbands by MADE Everyday

This week's Tutorial Tuesday is from the lovely and talented Dana Willard of MADE. One of Dana's latest video tutorials is How to Sew with Knits + How to Make Headbands, where she reviews the basics of sewing with knits and how to make fast, simple headbands, with several finishing options depending on personal preference. With a piece of stretchy knit fabric that measures about 18" x 6.5" and a standard sewing machine, you'll be making headbands in no time!

Check out how many fun ways that you can style your new headband!

Cotton Jersey or Cotton Lycra fabrics are most commonly used for making headbands, but any stretchy, knit fabric will do the trick! A few of my picks from the store:

Since each headband requires a very small amount of fabric, we also offer our Half Yard Cuts and our Mystery Mix 1/4 Yard Bargain Lots. This way you can practice sewing various knit materials on a smaller scale.
We hope you enjoy this tutorial!  We love to see what you sew up so please send 1-2 images of any project you make with Girl Charlee Fabrics to gcblog@girlcharlee.com and you might see your creation featured in our next KnitPicks!

Happy sewing!

  1. My eldest daughter who is now 13 (where have the years gone!) is always on the look out for new projects. I'm going to show her this headband post. I'm sure she'll give it a go. I'll let you know how we get on.
