January Customer Spotlight :: April Chilcoat of Sew Chill

Our January Customer Spotlight is about April Chilcoat of Sew Chill, whose dream of owning her own clothing line has come true! Sew Chill is an adorable children's clothing collection that combines comfort with style. The next Sew Chill release is scheduled for January 26th at 8:30pm CST, so mark your calendar! Here is more about April and her "Chilly" family.

About April Chilcoat ::

My inspiration for Sew Chill is from having my sweet daughter, Genevieve Rose. I have always had a love for fashion and was even accepted to FIDM back in my 20s but did not pursue it because I did not want to move away from my family, which I'm still very close to. So why "Sew Chill?" Before kids, my hubby's nickname was "Chilly" and when we got married, I simply became Mrs. Chilly. It was only fitting that when we had our children, Alexander (5) and Genevieve (23 months), the moniker "Little Chillies" came about. One of my goals for 2015 is to start a boys collection, inspired by my amazing son, Alexander Lee.

I have been collecting boutique brands for Genevieve ever since she was 4 months old and one day I just decided to take a sewing class. What started with just an order of 5 leggings turned into 50+ in a matter of weeks. It has been nonstop learning from day 1 and I love it. I believe in all of my designs/creations and just adore seeing them on my customers.

I have always dreamed of owning my own company, especially my own clothing line. My family often tells me I have the tendency to run (not walk) when I decide to pursue a goal, hence Sew Chill was born. Sew Chill focuses on comfortability and stays on top of the hottest trends, hence our motto "comfort with style."

What I love most about Sew Chill is the community of friends and now customers I have built these last 2 years. Most of my customers are friends whom I've met or have never met, but you can say we speak the same "boutique clothes" language. What makes a business thrive are relationships and continuous networking and of course hardwork. "You get out, what you put in", my husband always tells me. I am very thankful for the wonderful relationships I have built; it is one of the main reasons Sew Chill is thriving. Sew Chill also participates in giving back to the community. We often do giveaways for each of our releases as well as participate in charity auctions through the buy, sell and trade boutique community. One lesson my immigrant parents always remind me is "don't forget your roots" and I truly believe in that. Thank you so much for the opportunity to be featured on the Girl Charlee blog; we love this company, their excellent customer service and most of all their beautiful fabrics!
