Tutorial Tuesday :: High Low Maxi Skirt by Zaaberry

I don't know about everyone else but I am ready for some spring summer sewing!  As most of the USA are still shoveling out snow I thought a bright and cherry warm weather tutorial was in order for this weeks Tutorial Tuesday.  Ruby over at Zaaberry has this awesome High Low Maxi Skirt Tutorial that combines the high low skirt with the maxi skirt that I am super excited to try for myself.   Ruby has really easy direction to follow and you will be rocking this skirt in no time!

Ruby has an excellent tip about using a correctly colored thread on the inside with the high low as it is visible from the back so be sure to take the time to color match.  I also like how you can apply this easy pattern modification to just about any skirt or dress you wish.

Since you want a good stretch and drape for your skirt most knits in cotton spandex, cotton
jersey blend, or Ponte de Roma will work!  A few of my picks from the store:

We hope you enjoy this tutorial and please send 1-2 images of any project you make with Girl Charlee Fabrics to gcblog@girlcharlee.com and you might see your creation featured in our next KnitPicks!

Happy sewing!

  1. Your tutorial is great. I love the fact that you suggest fabrics to use. I have been leery of buying fabric on line because I don't know if what I select will work for the garment I want to sew. You have solved that dilemma for me!

  2. That skirt rocks! I love the color. And when that style is no longer in fashion it is long enough to level the bottom hem. Trendy and frugal!
