Tutorial Tuesday :: Hi-Low Dress Tutorial by Merrick's Art

SO many great patterned knits + Thanksgiving = ohhhh what to make??  I always gave a stink-eye raised eyebrow when I spied hi-low dresses in stores until I finally tried one on (FLATTERING) so that is what I have decided I want to make and wear for Thanksgiving this year.  In cruising around the glorious interweb searching for hi-low dress patterns I found this very easy Hi-Low Dress Tutorial from sewing fashionista blogger Merrick of Merrick's Art.  I like this tutorial because you just use your favorite loose blouse pattern and the skirt is straight cut.  Besides Merrick's great accessorizing the true stylish finishes of the dress come from the elastic casing at the waist and the hi-low finish at the bottom...VOILÀ!

Hi-low view:

Merrick uses a silk fabric, but a light to mid weight knit with a nice flowy drape would work really well (and no wrinkling).  A few of my picks from the shop:

We hope you enjoy this tutorial and please send 1-2 images of any project you make with Girl Charlee Fabrics to gcblog@girlcharlee.com and you might see your creation featured in our next KnitPicks!

Happy sewing!
