Introducing Blank Slate Sewing Patterns

We are very excited to announce our newest pattern designer to Girl Charlee Fabrics, Blank Slate Patterns.  I found Melissa through her awesome blog Melly Sews and was very excited to see how many of her sewing patterns are specifically for knits.  Her patterns are very easy to follow with great instructions, illustrations, and images.  Here is a little bit about Melissa Mora, designer and owner:

Melissa, the designer of Blank Slate Patterns, is a mom to two boys and a former theatre teacher/costumer who has been sewing for over 30 years. The seeds for Blank Slate Patterns were planted when she searched high and low for a blazer pattern for her then 2 year old son and discovered there wasn’t one. So she drafted it. Other people expressed interest in the pattern, and a company was born!

All her patterns are just darling but here are a few of my favorites along with some fabric picks from the store:

The Pristine Swing Dress Pattern is perfect for the confident beginner/intermediate sewist and can be made of knit or woven fabric. Pattern features short or long sleeves, contrasting collar, loop and button closure, and sweet rounded front patch pockets. Sizes 18m-8 years.  Uses just 1 1/4 yard & 1/4 of contrast fabric.

Try one of these fabrics:

The Cool Cardigan Pattern is a confident beginner pattern featuring a contrast button band, contrast waistband, rounded patch pockets, and set in sleeves. Sizes 18m-8 years.   Uses just 1/2 yard of mid weight cotton jersey, sweatshirt, thermal, or Hacci sweater knit fabric and 1/4 yard of a ribbing or contrast knit for collar.

Try one of these fabrics:

The Beachy Boatneck Pattern is the perfect project for your first time working with knits. The faced neckline means that you don’t have to fuss with ribbing, and the construction couldn’t be easier. The Beachy Boatnecks features 3/4 or short sleeves and a slightly curved hemline. Sizes 18m-8 years.  Great for boys and girls and you can use pretty much any knit!!

If you sew up any of these patterns with our fabrics please send us images as we would love to see it and you could be featured on our monthly Knit Picks!  Email your pictures to gcblog@girlcharlee.com.

Happy sewing!
