Customer Spotlight:: Gayle Garson of Milligear

Welome to Girl Charlee's Customer Spotlight for July! This month we are featuring Milligear, an online shop that sells handmade Hickman Hiders by owner and crafter Gayle Garson.  Gayle has a wonderfully inspiring story that you can read about below and be sure to visit her blog to follow Robin's journey.
About Gayle

Gayle is a proud wife and mother of two beautiful children. Her love for sewing started off with making her dream wedding dress after searching high and low trying to find the perfect dress. Gayle had a blast for a few years making bags and selling them at craft shows and Etsy.

The inspiration of the Hickman Hider began on July 13, 2012, when her 9 month old daughter Robin was diagnosed with leukemia. The day after Robin's diagnoses a Hickman, a central venous catheter used for the administration of chemotherapy or other medications, was put in. As treatments started, over time, Gayle began to notice that the Hickman line tubes created a problem for an infant patient.

The Hickman Hider is a tube top with a pocket where the tubes can be tucked in, which keeps the Hickman clean and away from diapers and little hands.    Gayle's inspiration, Robin is wearing her Hickman Hider made from our soft, jersey cotton knits that are both comfortable and stylish for her.  Gayle's mission is to make life easier for tiny patients and their families during the difficult process of treatments.  She has donated Hickman Hiders to families across the US.

Milligear's Hickman Hiders are available for purchase on Gayle's Etsy shop.  Gayle also offers a pattern and tutorial for those interested in making or donating their own Hickman Hider. If you are interested in following Robin's amazing journey please visit Gayle's Blog.
